5 Week Update

Bath time!

Well, another week has flown by and lots has happened in the life of 5 week old Henry. Last week was switched from breast milk to formula. We went from breast milk to Similac (Ailmentum) to Enfamil (Nutramigen) and Henry adjusted after a few days and was great. On Saturday morning, we changed a poopy diaper to find green poop again! So, needless to say, I called the doctor AGAIN and they were concerned! So, we went in and saw another pediatrician who found blood in his poop, AGAIN! She had us feed him Pedialite for 12 hours and then start him on Neocate...this is a VERY expensive formula that has no protein in it, so it is even easier to digest. He ate it wonderfully despite the awful smell, he seems to be pretty content thus far. We had a doctors appointment this morning to follow up on the Necoate and he weighed in at 9 pounds 11 ounces. The doctor was very pleased with his weight gain and now we are going to just watch to see how he does over the next few days. Chances are if he gets sick again, it will probably be over the weekend so we can spend another Saturday in the doctors office.

However, overall, Henry got a good check-up and we are very pleased to say there was no blood in his stool today!!! Go Henry!

As far as his temperament, he is not as fussy anymore and is still loving to lie on his back and kick his feet. I am going to attach a video later of him kicking. It is hilarious! He will kick for a solid 20 minutes and then pass out!

Henry, however, has decided to sleep for shorter increments at night since he started on formula. We had him sleeping for 4 to 5 hours at a time on breast milk, and now he is back to eating for 10 minutes and then sleeping for about 2 1/2 hours. We are going to work hard to get back to our old schedule!

He is still a dream baby. We are loving being parents and are just amazed at how blessed we are to have such a wonderful child. I am also going to post some pictures of one of the first real "baths" we gave him (if you can really call it a bath). He did not seemed too bothered by it. They have these over sized washcloths you can put on top of babies now to keep them warm during a bath and he loves it!
